Privacy policy

Last updated September 30, 2026

electy.org is a free, nonpartisan guide to the 2026 elections. We don't have accounts, ads, analytics or tracking cookies, and we don't sell or share personal information.

What we store

If you switch between light and dark mode, your browser remembers the choice in local storage under the name electy-theme. It never leaves your device. Clear your browser's site data to remove it.

The race finder

When you type an address to find your races, your browser sends it directly to OpenStreetMap Nominatim to get its location, then sends those coordinates to the U.S. Census Bureau to look up your congressional district. electy.org doesn't receive, log or save your address. Those services handle requests under their own privacy policies.

The contact form

If you send us a message, the form forwards what you enter (subject, message, and optionally your email, the page and a source link) through Formspree, which delivers it to our inbox. We use it only to answer you or fix the page, and we delete messages once they're resolved. Ask us and we'll delete yours sooner.

Hosting and fonts

  • The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log visitors' IP addresses for security. We don't have access to those logs.
  • Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads.

Links to other sites

Race pages link to news outlets, campaign sites and government sources. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Children

electy.org isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Questions or deletion requests: contact us.
